Schedule of Events

Parents and families are welcome to attend these special events!

5:00 - 9:00pm - Missouri S&T Equinox and Wellness Fair @ Gale Bullman Building, (Moved indoors - please use the doors on the south side of Gale Bullman next to the S&T Fitness Center.)  

12 - 3 p.m. - Tour the Student Design and Experiential Learning Center @1051 N. Bishop Ave. Tour the shop where over 20 student design teams Design, Build, Break, and Repeat this process in preparation for collegiate competitions in robotics, rocketry, racing, and life-saving world travel.

2 p.m. - S&T Men's Soccer Game vs. Davenport @ Missouri S&T Soccer Field (Purchase tickets here.)

3 - 5 p.m. - Open house at the Student Success Center. Come see them in their beautiful new location and learn how they help students achieve success! @ 117 Innovation Lab

4 - 6 p.m. - Equinox Fall Festival - Celebrate the changing of the seasons and enjoy a variety of autumn themed activities, including KMNR music, seasonal crafts, games, and delicious fall treats.@ Innovation Lab Atrium and Forum.

6 - 10 p.m. - Glamour & Gatsby, a live band event hosted by Missouri S&T Aerial Swing Dance Club. A beginner lesson will be held from 6-7 p.m., with social dancing starting at 7 p.m. "Everyone is welcome to come learn swing dance and have a great time, no experience or partner needed - refreshments provided!" @ St. Pat's Ballroom A&B in the Havener Center. ($5 students | $10 non-students)

 

8 - 10:30 a.m. - Welcome Breakfast and Parents Resource Fair @ Havener Center. Everyone is welcome to stop by the resource fair to visit with campus representatives. (Continental Breakfast - Advance ticket purchase required. Please show digital ticket at St. Pat's Ballroom doors.)

11 a.m. - Parade of Nations - See the parade route here.

12 - 4 p.m. - Celebration of Nations Live Music and Entertainment, International Food and Craft Vendors, Celebrate Talent, Celebrate Fashion, Cultural Displays, Camel rides, and Kid's Korner (STEM Around the Globe) @ Rolla Bandshell and Festival Lots (E. 9th Street). 

2 - 5:30 p.m. - Tailgate with S&T parents, hosted by Jennifer Crotty with the #UNOFFICIAL Parents Facebook group. "Bring chairs and food for your group if you want to sit and eat. You are welcome to hang out the entire time or come and go. Say hello to the parents' community!"

4:30 - 6 p.m. - Have a high school student interested in S&T? New/Incoming Student Tailgate Event, with an optional campus tour at 3pm. "Join the Admissions team for a spirited tailgate event outside of the Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building before cheering on the game. Football tickets will be provided to each student and one (1) guest." RSVP Required.

6 p.m. - Missouri S&T Football Game vs. Quincy @ All-Good Bailey Stadium (Purchase tickets here.)

7:30 p.m. - Mo' Funny, Less Problems comedy show by Second City Touring Company @ Leach Theatre. (Purchase tickets here.)

9 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Brunch with the Vice Chancellor for Student Success Join your student for a delicious brunch buffet and chat with division leadership @ Social House at T.J. Hall. (S&T students use meal swipe, others $11.85 plus tax/person)

Please pardon our construction dust at our growing campus. Allow plenty of time to park and walk to events, and don't forget to pack your comfy walking shoes! Every parking lot has designated handicapped accessible parking spaces.

We are pleased to offer these FREE campus parking options:

Friday - For tours of the Student Design and Experiential Learning Center, please use Lot X (next to the Gale Bullman Multipurpose Building). For closest access to the Innovation Lab and Havener Center, use Lot H-37 (entrance located off Tim Bradley Way) and walk through the pedestrian underpass, or use the Underground Parking Garage (699 Tim Bradley Way), or any campus parking lot.

Saturday - For the activities at the Havener Center use Lot H-37 (entrance located off Tim Bradley Way) and walk through the pedestrian underpass, or the Underground Parking Garage (699 Tim Bradley Way), or any campus parking lot. Lot C-11 (on 10th Street across from Castleman Hall) is the parade staging area, and will be closed until after the parade.

Sunday - For T.J. Hall, use Lot T (at T.J. Hall) or Lot L (entrance off 16th Street) and walk through the pedestrian tunnel.

Registration/Cost

What is the cost to register? Why is it important to register in advance for the weekend?

Family weekend registration is $10 for each family. Registering in advance helps us to plan for you to have a fantastic weekend, and helps keep costs and waste to a minimum. 

What is included in the registration fee?

Most Family & Friends Weekend events are free, including the Parent Resource Fair and Celebration of Nations. The Welcome Breakfast, athletic events and special performances require additional admission. A gift bag will be available to the first 375 families who check in.

How will I receive the tickets that I purchased?

Tickets will be sent digitally via email from minertix.com after purchase, which you may either download or view on your mobile device.

Are the tickets refundable if I am unable to come?

Family Weekend Registration cancellations and refund requests made before September 6, 2024, may receive a refund. Refunds may take up to 30 days to process from the time of cancellation. To request refunds, please email family@mst.edu.

Welcome Breakfast

What is the cost?

Tickets for the Welcome Breakfast on Saturday, September 21, 2024, are $5/person, ages 12+ (including your S&T student), and must be purchased by September 15, 2024.

What is being served?

The breakfast will be served continental style and will include assorted donut holes, yogurt bar with granola, berries and  pineapple, link sausages, boiled eggs, coffee bar, and juice.

Where do I find the Welcome Breakfast?

Come to St. Pat's ABC in the upper level of the Havener Center between 8 - 10:30 a.m., show your digital ticket at the door, and simply serve yourself at one of the eight buffet starting points. Additional seating will be next door in the Carver-Turner Room

Are the tickets refundable?

Welcome Breakfast cancellations and refund requests made before September 6, 2024, may receive a refund. Refunds may take up to 30 days to process from the time of cancellation. To request refunds, please email family@mst.edu.

Will I be able to attend the Parent's Resource Fair if I do not purchase tickets for the Welcome Breakfast?

Yes, everyone is welcome to attend the resource fair! We do request that you register for the weekend to aid in planning and to minimize waste.

Visitors to Rolla have many choices for lodging in Rolla. A list of hotels providing discounts for Family & Friends Weekend is provided on this page under "Hotels Offering Special Rates", but require booking in advance.

What forms of payment are accepted once I arrive on campus?

Payments on campus by visitors may be made by credit or debit card.

Where should I park on campus?

Recommended parking lots and printable campus maps will be available on this page under "Parking Lots and Locations". Every parking lot has designated disabled parking spaces. Please note that Lot C-11 off 10th Street will be closed on Saturday morning for parade staging.

General Questions

Where should I check in when I arrive on campus?

Registered guests may check in on Friday at the Equinox Fall Festival (4-6 p.m. at the Innovation Lab), or on Saturday at the Havener Center Atrium (8 - 10:30 a.m.). If you checked in on Friday, it is not necessary to check in again on Saturday.

Will my student have class on Friday?

Yes, classes are not canceled for Family & Friends Weekend. However, you are welcome to enjoy the campus and any scheduled activities while they are in class. Consult with your student for their availability during this busy weekend!

Do families and friends of returning students come?

Yes! Family & Friends Weekend is open to the families and friends of ALL our students!

Can I eat with my student in the dining hall?

Yes, on Sunday morning T.J. Dining Hall will serve brunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and you are welcome to purchase a meal ($11.85+ tax/person) to enjoy with your student. No prior registration is required.

How can I learn about on-campus resources available to my student?

Attend the Parents Resource Fair on Saturday, September 21, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Havener Center Atrium.

Celebration of Nations

What is it?

The 15th Annual Celebration of Nations on Saturday, September 21, 2024, brings together the vibrant cultures and countries of our community, beginning with the Parade of Nations at 11 a.m., and showcasing vibrant food, music, and international culture at the Rolla Downtown Band Shell and Festival Lots at 901 N. Elm Street.

Be a part of the parade!

Want to volunteer to carry a country flag, sign or banner in the parade? Many people also enjoy wearing their native attire for this fun festival.

Are there activities for children?

Yes! This is a great opportunity for children to learn about other countries and their cultures. Dig in the Discover Sand Pile, collect passport stamps, face painting, and camel rides are only a few of the many activities.

Can you walk there from the Missouri S&T campus?

Yes, wear your comfy shoes if you are alright with a longer walk. Public and street parking are also available nearer the festival lots.
